Little Things

With our lives being perpetually busy, it’s hard to take the time to appreciate anything. I know I’m running 100 miles a minute just trying to keep up with everything I have to do. And while I like being busy, I easily get overwhelmed when I have a lot to do. It’s nice to enjoy the little things. I keep a gratitude journal where I write down all the things I’m grateful for that day which is a great practice to focus on the positive rather than the negative.

Here are a few little things I’ve been enjoying lately:

1. Watching Frasier with my family. The fam and I are planning a road trip up the Pacific Northwest (Portland and Seattle) later this summer and we’ve been watching Frasier because it takes place in Seattle. I don’t know why I never watched this show but I love it! We’ve finished Season 1 and are three episodes into Season 2. (It’s available for free streaming on Amazon for Prime members here.)

2. Sugar & Cloth’s collaboration with May Designs (pictured above). I love the colors and geometric patterns. And the journals are customizable! So good.

3. Keeping an agenda. Before I kept an agenda, I used to write notes and to-dos on little scraps of paper that would be scattered around the house. My mom gifted me an agenda which was pretty much a life changer. Writing everything down in one convenient place = much better. It keeps me a million times more organized and gives me peace that I’ll be able to find all my notes in one place, therefore minimizing overwhelm. I use’s agenda.

4. Snapchat. With Instagram’s new algorithm in full force, my Instagram feed is super sad. I see a lot of people posting less on Instagram and turning to Snapchat. I myself don’t Snapchat as much as I’d like to, but I really enjoy seeing other people’s Snapchat stories. Some of my favorites are @jeffmindell, @lauramillerrvng, and @houselarsbuilt.

5. Gretchen Rubin’s Happier podcast. I am ashamed to admit I’ve never read any of Gretchen Rubin’s books. However, I’ve listened to this Lively Show episode with Gretchen and I’m fascinated by her theory on habits. I’m hooked on the podcast Gretchen does with her sister, Elizabeth. I always complain I have no time to read, but I listen to podcasts so much I could probably have listened to at least 10 audiobooks by now. My newest habit for myself is to listen to audiobooks.

6. Watching Sara Dietschy’s YouTube channel grow. I discovered Sara after Casey Neistat gave her a generous shout-out in one of his videos. I really admire her ambition, drive, and talent. This girl is going places and I love following her trajectory from the very beginning. A true testimony to if you’re doing what you love, success will follow.

Don’t for a second forget to take time to appreciate the little things—little pleasures. What have YOU been enjoying lately?
